Organic Waste Processing at ETC Alfred.

Municipal Organic Waste Treatment

ETC Alfred provides a specialized processing program for organic materials collected from municipal brown bin programs. At our facility, these materials undergo advanced treatment through composting and other valorization methods, ensuring efficient waste reduction while producing high-quality organic by-products.

Green Waste Composting

ETC Alfred has been actively composting green waste. Over time, our composting capabilities will expand significantly. Our expansion will allow us to increase processing capacity and better serve municipal and industrial partners, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable organic waste management.

Reception of Materials at ETC Alfred.

How it works

  • Board the truck scale (with your vehicle) and wait for the green light. Then follow the signs as to the appropriate sorting centre.
  • You must unload your materials where dictated by the attendant. If you have a trailer or a tipper truck, you must lower the skip and lock it before setting off again in the opposite direction on the scale.
  • You’ll have to look in your mirror to see the light turn green and drive off to park and come pay at the Balance Office or Sales Office.

Additional charges

  • If there are couches, armchairs, mattresses, tires with rims or carpets in the trip.
  • If the customer requests to have the vehicle unloaded using a mechanical shovel.
  • If the customer requires a survoltage for the trailer.
  • If the customer requires a weighing ticket as proof.
  • Additional charges may be added for any non-compliant trip.

Non-conforming trip

  • Any trip that contains soil mixed with dry materials or contains prohibited materials.
  • Any trip that is mixed with different materials that will not be separated by the customer and requires unusual additional sorting.
  • Any trip that has been unloaded at the wrong locations.
  • In the event of a non-compliant trip, the removal of these materials will be billed at an hourly rate, in addition to charges for damages and legal fees if applicable.

Safety rules

  • The maximum speed allowed for circulation is 8 km/h and any person who does not respect this rule will be automatically refused.
  • Any form of verbal or physical violence towards staff is prohibited.

Liability

  • We are not responsible for damage caused by our equipment when scraping or loading trucks or trailers.
  • We are not responsible for punctures that may occur on site.

Prohibited materials

  • The policy on prohibited materials must be respected at all times. If a customer does not respect this policy, they will be denied access.
  • We recommend that you download the application or consult the Ontario Waste Management website to find out where these materials are accepted.
